Welcome to Photossance!
My name is Diana Levy and my dad, David, and I started Photossance because we want to put photography back on walls. Not the kind of photos you take on your phone, but ones taken on large format cameras that can be produced really big… like 8 feet… and are light, easy to hang, and durable.
Putting all those ideas together can seem somewhat paradoxical but not with Vibrachrome, the metal-based format we are printing on. Vibrachrome is an edge-to-edge printing format that eliminates the need for a traditional framing, which can be costly, inefficient, difficult to move, and the glass makes it heavy and fragile. It has a sleek, modern look to it, and comes with a built-in backing to hang easily on a wooden cleat, which comes with delivery. All you need to get one of these on your wall is a drill and 2-4 heavy screws.
So how do you get a photograph printed on metal?
Our production house uses a specially coated paper printed on a dye-sublimation press which is then transferred to a separate press that heats the print against the face of the metal at 400 degrees F. As the water in the ink evaporates, the ink transitions from a solid to gaseous state. After the metal cools, the ink becomes permanent and scratch-resistant—no lamination needed. We also print everything on a white aluminum glossy format, which captures a bold look and sleek essence and makes each photo look more vibrant as it hangs on the wall.
All of our photographs are from our own content library—they’re actually all photographs shot by David! This style of photography evokes memories or feelings from being in certain familiar and iconic places, whether it’s neighborhoods in New York City; or African wildlife; or the simple pleasures of a calming landscape. Our goal is to bring everyone home to a place or memory that is relatable and tasteful at the same time.
At the end of the day, real estate is expensive and so is the real estate of the walls themselves. At Photossance, we believe we bring the best solution to that problem with the most affordable and accessible price point too.
